Kodiak on

the Water!

The Waterfront

Camp Kodiak's waterfront is staffed by a team of experienced and certified NLS lifeguards and swim instructors. It features a daily general swim where campers can cool off in the water, build sandcastles in our digging beach, hangout on the beach, or join a game of volleyball!

Every other day campers will be programmed for swim instruction. We offer Red Cross Swimming levels, 1 through 10, as well as the Lifesaving Society's Bronze Star, Medallion and Bronze Cross.

In addition to their professional qualifications, our staff participate in staff training aimed at breaking down the skills and lessons so that our campers can gain as much as possible from each period. Whilst we encourage all campers to particpate in swimming, like all activities at Camp, no one is required to participate. Those campers that choose not to swim can still take part in water safety and first aid lessons.

Water World is an adventure playground that is a very popular part of our waterfront! It features a water trampoline, slide, jungle gym and launch pad. As part of the cabin's rotation, we ensure that every camper has the opportunity climb, jump, and see how high they can launch or be launched!  At this activity campers must wear a lifejacket, so swim testing is not required to join in the fun!

Our waterfront director and staff's main goal is for all of our campers to have fun in a safe environment.

Kodiak on the Water!

With over 4 1/2 miles of waterfront, water based activities make up a big part of our daily schedule.  Activities include:

  • Canoeing

  • Kayaking

  • Stand Up Paddleboarding

  • Waterskiing and Wakeboarding

  • Sailing

  • Swimming

  • Paddleboating

  • and many more.

Water based activities, like all activities at camp, are part of the daily schedule as well as optional, choice activites. During these times campers work on the required skills and techniques, taught in carefully constructed lessons by qualified counsellors. Whilst we teach the skills required, there is also a heavy emphasis on having fun. There is plenty of time for games and laughter our on the water!
